Sue Kristjansson Appointed President of Berkshire Gas
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jan. 4, 2021 — Avangrid Networks today announced the appointment of Sue Kristjansson as the new President and Chief Operating Officer of Berkshire Gas.
An experienced natural gas utility executive, Kristjansson assumes leadership of the Pittsfield-based company, which serves more than 40,000 natural gas customers across 20 Western Massachusetts communities. She replaces Frank Reynolds, who was recently appointed to oversee Avangrid Networks’ companies in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Avangrid Networks is the parent company of Berkshire Gas.
“I am excited to have this dynamic and experienced leader at the helm of Berkshire Gas,” said Reynolds. “I know Sue will be instrumental in driving the company’s evolution as it meets the ever-changing needs of its customers and communities in Massachusetts.”
Kristjansson’s appointment is effective today. Previously, she was President and CEO of the Oak Ridge Utility District in Tennessee. She also worked in a variety of roles at the Southern California Gas Company in Los Angeles. She has significant experience in strategic planning and tactical implementation, energy and environmental policy and regulatory issues, as well as brand management and crisis communications.

Kristjansson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from National University of La Jolla, Calif. and taught as an adjunct professor at Mt. St. Jacinto Community College in Menifee, Calif. She is active in community and professional associations and is a board member of the American Gas Association and the American Public Gas Association.
