Massachusetts DPU's plan for the future of natural gas
Make your voice heard at our upcoming listening sessions!
On December 6, 2023, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) announced a new plan for the future of natural gas in our state, through its Order in the D.P.U. 20-80. This order established a plan to guide local gas distribution companies toward reaching net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Each company must create a Climate Compliance Plan (CCP) every five years, with the first plans due on April 1, 2025. We want to hear from you, before we finalize our plans.

Virtual Meetings
There will be two virtual public listening sessions where you can learn more and share your opinions. Both sessions will be held virtually, with a daytime and evening option:
- Daytime Listening Session (virtual): Monday, February 10 from 11:30AM – 1PM: Register Here
- Evening Listening Session (virtual): Thursday, February 13 from 5:30PM –7 PM: Register Here
Please note: The public listening sessions will be geared toward education on new DPU requirements surrounding natural gas policy and elements of the Climate Compliance Plans. It will be a space for citizens, ratepayers, and stakeholders to share their opinions and ask questions about upcoming changes in natural gas policy. Your input is vital to ensuring the Climate Compliance Plans reflect diverse perspectives and align with community needs while meeting the regulatory requirements of the DPU. The questions and feedback raised at these sessions will inform the Climate Compliance Plans and will be included as an attachment to the filing.
Live translation will be available via the “live translated captions” feature of Microsoft Teams for both listening sessions.
If you are not able to attend one of the sessions, but are interested in the topics discussed, please email the discussion facilitator, Apex Analytics, at ccpinbox@apexanalyticsllc.com and you will be sent recordings of both sessions once concluded.
